Understanding PoSH
What Is PoSH Compliance?
The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 is a landmark legislation in India that protects women from sexual harassment in the workplace. It defines sexual harassment, lays out preventive measures, and establishes a formal grievance redressal mechanism.
The Act mandates that every employer with 10 or more employees must constitute an Internal Committee (IC) to address complaints, conduct inquiries, and recommend appropriate action. It also requires awareness programmes and workshops to educate employees about their rights and responsibilities.
Working with experienced PoSH consultants helps organisations navigate these requirements effectively — ensuring both legal compliance and a genuinely safe workplace culture.
Is your organisation PoSH compliant?
The importance of PoSH compliance cannot be overstated. Non-compliance carries financial penalties, legal liability, and significant reputational risk. More importantly, every person who walks into your workplace deserves to feel safe — and compliance is how you make that real.
P
Prevention
Building a safe culture before anything goes wrong.
P
Prohibition
Zero tolerance, clearly stated and enforced.
R
Redressal
A fair, time-bound process to handle every complaint with dignity.
Why It Matters
Four Compelling Reasons Every Organisation Must Prioritise PoSH
PoSH compliance is a legal requirement. But the organisations that truly benefit go further — they build cultures where people want to stay, contribute, and grow.
Legal Mandate & Compliance
The PoSH Act imposes strict penalties for violations. While it specifically targets organisations with 10 or more employees, compliance and awareness are essential for all workplaces — regardless of size. Non-compliance risks fines, legal action, and cancellation of licences.
Creating a Culture of Safety & Respect
Organisations must go beyond aesthetics to create genuinely safe environments. This ensures legal compliance while cultivating a culture of mutual respect, professionalism, and psychological safety that employees can feel every day.
Enhanced Organisational Reputation
A strong commitment to PoSH compliance instils confidence in clients, customers, and stakeholders. It signals that your organisation prioritises employee well-being — which fosters loyalty, attracts top talent, and builds lasting credibility.
Fostering a Respectful Work Environment
PoSH awareness gives employees clarity on professional conduct, promoting responsible behaviour and comfortable interactions. A harassment-free workplace leads to higher satisfaction, lower attrition, and measurably improved productivity.
