PoSH Policy

A PoSH policy aims to create a safer workplace for women by preventing, prohibiting, and addressing incidents of sexual harassment. The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, commonly known as the ‘PoSH Act,’ was enacted to ensure a secure and respectful environment for women at work. This Act recognises that sexual harassment violates a woman’s fundamental rights to equality, dignity, and the freedom to pursue any profession or occupation in a safe environment free from harassment.

All organisations registered in India having 10 or more employees are required to have a PoSH policy in place. It is industry agnostic and mandatory regardless of legal status, geographical location or gender ratio of the organisation. This policy should help employees understand their rights and responsibilities under the law and should detail how to prevent sexual harassment at workplace and the redressal mechanisms in place.
