External Member Empanelment

An External Member is a third party unrelated to the organisation who serves on an organisation’s Internal Committee (IC) to ensure that the complaints are handled impartially and following due process. The PoSH Act and its Rules stipulates that the external member should be someone experienced in working towards women’s issues or a PoSH Lawyer. From an organisational point of view, it is also important to empanel an external member who is not just an expert in handling sexual harassment cases, but also who has an understanding of the industry and organisational work culture.
